Angelo O. Pregoni

Angelo O. Pregoni is a contemporary artist whose work brings together painting, scent, cultural memory and dialogue between different historical and visual traditions.

His practice combines materially rich paintings with sculptural perfumes and sensory objects, exploring the relationship between identity, representation and the physical experience of art. Rather than using provocation as an immediate tool for visibility, Pregoni develops slower and more layered encounters between images, histories and cultures.

In Ujamaa Express, presented at the Tanzania Pavilion during the 2026 Venice Biennale, Western cultural icons such as Vincent van Gogh, Mozart and Maria Callas enter into dialogue with figures from Swahili culture and Tanzanian history. The project reflects on cultural difference, memory, appropriation and the possibility of creating connections without erasing the identity of the other.
