Asger Jorn (1914–1973) was a Danish artist, writer and theorist who played a central role in the CoBrA movement and later became a founding member of the Situationist International. His paintings combined spontaneous gestures, distorted figures, popular imagery and a deliberate rejection of academic conventions.
This section explores Jorn’s paintings, ceramics, writings and radical cultural theories, as well as his connections with Art Brut, experimental art and collective creativity. It also examines his criticism of institutional culture and his lasting influence on post-war European art.
