Giovanni Abrignani (1899–1977) was a Sicilian artist associated with Art Brut. Using ballpoint pen, ruler and compass, he constructed meticulously ordered drawings that he later enriched with coloured pencils.
Vehicles and movement dominate Abrignani’s visual world: trains, automobiles, bicycles, carriages and gondolas become part of complex scenes suspended between personal memory, observation and imagination. This section explores his life, drawings and distinctive place within the history of Art Brut.
